Tip of the Month: Report Problems Before A Warranty Ends

Keep track of your warranties.

Everytime you make a hardware purchase, make note of the warranty period provided and mark the end of the warranty in your calendar. When the product is nearing the end of its warranty, give it a good going over. Use it, put it through its paces, try everything out, make note of any broken parts or features that do not work. If anything isn't right, contact the manufacturer and arrange for warranty service BEFORE the warranty period ends.

It is unfortunate to witness situations where items could have been repaired or replaced, under a warranty, had the manufacturer been contacted at the first sign of a problem. Many people will wait too long to diagnose a failing device and miss a valuable opportunity.
